Humble circumstances do not mean inferior worth.
"Trials, if properly understood through the gift of God's wisdom, will grant a new perspective, in which riches are seen for what they are. Riches have the capacity to dull our sight until we fail to see the image of God in those around us. They have the potential to woo us into an uncritical acceptance of the standards of the world as the rightful standards of the church." (NIV Application Commentary)
In James 1:9-11, the Apostle James presents the paradox of the rich poor man. He also presents the paradox of the poor rich man.
What did he mean by this? What message does he have for the modern-day church?
James offers a warning for those who trust in uncertain riches.
The Letters Of James And Peter said - "...a man is a fool to put all his trust in things - like wealth - which he may lose at any moment. He is only wise if he puts his trust in things which he cannot lose."
Where is your trust today?
Are you trusting in God "who alone can give the things which abide for ever"?
