"Nothing is too great to be attained by one who, having received Christ Jesus as Lord, walks in Him, rooted and built up in Him, 'a holy temple to the Lord.' " (Alexander MacLaren)
"The soul thus firmly established will survive the heaviest storms of adversity and the most furious assaults of error." (Preacher's Homiletic Commentary)
In Colossians 2:6-7, the Apostle Paul presented the idea of stability and the idea of progress in the Christian life.
Being "rooted in Christ"..."built up in Him"...and "established" in truth covers the idea of stability.
"Walking in Jesus" implies a continual advancement to a given destination (Heaven) and covers the idea of progress.
The first act of the Christian life is "receiving Christ."
Every moment afterwards, we must continue "receiving" Him.
