Psalm 92:1 says -"It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD..."
"Giving thanks unto the LORD" is a "good thing." It is an appropriate act. It is appropriate because there is much - under all circumstances - to be thankful for - like life, food, raiment, air, water, family, friends, hope, all mercies, and especially for JESUS and salvation by Him.
Besides, the effect of "giving thanks unto the LORD" is that it tends to lessen the real troubles, afflictions, cares, and sorrows of life. And, to that I am a witness!
In addition, John Gill had this to offer about "giving thanks unto the LORD" - "...it is pleasant work for the saints themselves, and it is profitable unto them; to be thankful for what they have is the way to have more." (certainly something to keep in mind)
At this time, there are several things I would like to bring to your attention.
First of all, after my husband Carl went to be with the Lord almost three (3) months ago, I noticed that my ministry offerings were down considerably. I kept feeling that I was not receiving all of my mail to my PO Box.
Sure enough, one person notified me when the check she sent did not clear for an entire month. Another person's offering finally made it to my PO Box at the end of the month - after being sent again by her bank.
Needless to say - if you had sent an offering to Walking In Truth Ministry - especially after Carl died - and your check has not yet cleared in the bank since then, it most likely never got to me. I never received it.
I did notify the Post Office, and they have placed a special note on my box - notifying the workers to be extra-careful when delivering my mail. And for that, I am so very grateful!
I am excited to testify that, before Halloween, John and I gave out over 200 Chick tracts.
The first 100, I distributed by myself. This was rather difficult because the last time I gave out tracts (in a large amount) was with Carl last Christmas. We had such a wonderful time together evangelizing for the Lord.
Even though I walked alone this time, I knew that I was not alone, for Jesus was with me each step of the way.
The last 100 Chick tracts, John worked with me. We did it in memory of Carl as it marked two (2) months that he had been with the Lord! Carl would have been thrilled to see us "going strong for the LORD" without him!
We are believing for a mighty harvest of souls as a result!
God uses these Gospel tracts in such a mighty way. It is so exciting to watch! For example, at the drive-through window at Starbucks, John gave a young woman a Chick tract. She immediately squealed out - "Oh, thank you so much! You gave me another kind of tract last week and someone took my tract. I was so upset! I am going to hold onto this one!"
About a week ago, I had the most challenging experience. I woke up that morning with a sense of the "cloud of witnesses" (included is my husband Carl) (Hebrews 12:1) cheering me on to greater works for JESUS! I am believing for God to endue me with His power in order to do so.
Since Carl's homegoing, I also had the "most touching" thing happen to me that I would like to share with you.
We had bought Carl a Nook tablet as a Christmas gift several years ago. After his homegoing, I wanted to keep this tablet as a keepsake. The only problem was that I did not know where he placed the charger. I looked every place where I could imagine it to be - but to no avail. This was so disheartening for me.
Then, two weeks ago, as I was talking to my son John about purchasing another charger, in that very moment, Jesus gave me a clear vision of a box and then revealed to me exactly where the box was. Sure enough, when I went to the bookcase, it was exactly where the Lord revealed it to be! And when I opened the box, there was the charger!
What a moving moment that was for me! Oh, how JESUS cares about the smallest details in our lives! I was swept away by His tender mercies and lovingkindnesses!
At this time of "giving thanks," many ministries are coming before you asking for donations - and righfully so, for, as the Bible says -"...The labourer is worthy of his reward." (1 Timothy 5:18)
"Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel." (1 Corinthians 9:14)
Some ministries are legitimate; some are not!
Some are asking out of their greed; some out of their need!
Walking In Truth Ministry is legitimate - as our weekly messages prove! Always they can be backed up with the Word of God!
And, as you can easily imagine, with Carl gone, our finances have been cut considerably. Consequently, our needs are greater!
Hence, at this time of Thanksgiving, we are asking you to pray about giving to Walking In Truth ministry.
Pray about giving the most generous gift possible.
Thanksgiving is a time when families will gather together. This will be our first Thanksgiving without Carl. As a family, we did everything together. This year, John and I will feel the loss immensely.
I cannot tell you how encouraging and uplifting it is to check the mailbox and see it full of mail from you.
Please, let us hear from you!
To all those who faithfully support us every month with your financial gift, we want to say -"Thank You" - from the bottom of our hearts. We could never have accomplished all that we are doing without your help! May the Lord reward you richly in this life and in the life to come! We know that He will!
