You will be remembered by WHO or WHAT you loved during your lifetime!
"There is no sadder picture in the Bible than that of Solomon's fall. His extraordinary gift of wisdom did not save him from disobedience to the Law of God...History records no fairer start and no sadder end, excepting Judas's." (The Complete Bible Commentary)
Even though Solomon was endowed with great wisdom, and even though he had two (2) magnificent visitations from God, yet he is remembered by what he loved.
Solomon loved two (2) things - "the LORD" (early in life when he was godly) and "many strange women" (later in life when he was backslidden).
Be careful WHO or WHAT you love!
Remember, at the end of your life, you will be remembered by WHO or WHAT you loved during your lifetime!
Solomon started out with one love - "the LORD." As he drew further away from God, he had "many loves."
"The Ultimate Irony" is that the king, who built the Temple (thus making the high places obsolete), went on to build the high places himself and for the worship of false gods.
Unrivalled in his wisdom, he lived like a fool - demonstrating that he was the wisest fool who ever lived.
His life stands a solemn warning against ungodly alliances and relationships that can only destroy the believer's spiritual vitality.
