"Have you ever blamed your parents or other people for what you have become? Have you ever blamed circumstances for what you have done? Of course people and circumstances do affect us. However, one of the most significant ways we resist the work of God for our growth toward becoming 'mature and complete' is that we blame factors outside of ourselves for our sin." (IVP NT Commentary Series)
Some of the typical excuses for sin today are -
- The "Water It Down" excuse
- The "Blame Shifting" excuse
- The "Victim Mentality" excuse
All of these ways of thinking are ways to escape responsibility.
In James 1:14-16, the Apostle James is issuing a call for you to take responsibility for your own life and to deal with sinful motives.
In this teaching, you will learn that you open yourself to temptation. You are tempted to sin by your own evil desires.
Hence, you cannot blame any one else for your sin.
Here is my new Podcast.
