"Self deceit is the ground of all other deceit. Whatever deceit is abroad, it begins at home." (William Burkitt's Expository Notes)
"...self or soul deception is a dreadful thing..." (John Gill)
Do you carry yourself so highly whereby you look down upon others?
Are you lying to yourself, and, as a result, living a lie?
Is your spirituality based on Truth (the Word of God) or on your experiences (what you feel)?
Watch your heart - for that is where self-deceit starts!
Some of the causes of self-deceit are thinking too highly of yourself...making too light of sin... conformity to the world in manners, maxims, or pursuits...and calling vices by the name of virtues.
In order to counteract self-deceit, the Apostle Paul prescribes humility and a modest opinion of self.
Here is my new Bible video.
