"The deeper mysteries of religion belong to those that are of a higher class in the school of Christ, who have learned the first principles and well improved them..." (Matthew Henry)
"They, who have long enjoyed the richest advantages, are expected to show proportionable improvement in grace and knowledge." (Coke's Commentary)
The Hebrew Christians failed to mature in the faith.
They failed to wisely apply the spiritual knowledge they had acquired.
This caused them to lose interest in seeking for the deeper truths of Christianity and to yearn once again for the elementary teachings.
Instead of the deep things of God, they demanded from their teachers the simplest and easiest truths to be taught and preached.
Does this describe you?
How about using this time to evaluate yourself?
How about asking yourself the following questions - "What grade am I in in the School of Christ? Am I still a 'babe' when I should be 'of full age'? What kind of 'spiritual food' am I eating - 'milk' or 'meat'? Am I 'unskilful' or are my 'senses exercised'?"
Here is my new Bible Video.
